‘You can pursue your dreams at any point in your life. You have to listen to yourself. Maraming mga magsasabi na hindi mo kaya, pero ikaw pa rin ang piloto ng buhay mo, ang magdadala sa sarili mo sa tamang direksyon.’
A childhood dream has come true for Ronnie Liang.
The singer is now certified solo pilot having completed 30-hour flying time as part of training. He marked the milestone in a pinning ceremony which took place at the APG International Aviation Academy Inc. in Subic last Nov. 26.
Present at the ceremony were Ronnie’s flight instructor Captain Christian Atanacio and APG International Aviation Academy Inc. School Administrator Captain John Corda.
“When I was a kid, palagi kong nakikita ‘yung eroplano na lumilipad sa ere. I told myself, sa tamang panahon, makakapaglipad din ako. Here I am now, fulfilling my greatest dream.

Tuwing nagpapalipad ako, bilang parte ng pag-aaral ko as a pilot, minsan nagiging emotional ako, mixed feelings,” Ronnie told Bulletin Entertainment and select members of media.
After the ceremony, Ronnie took an airplane around the runway. He was “baptized” by getting doused with a bucketful of water.
Ronnie admitted being in show business while training to become a pilot was tough balancing act for him. He underscored that there is no deadline when it comes to fulfilling dreams.
“I believe that you can pursue your dreams at any point in your life. You have to listen to yourself. Maraming mga magsasabi na hindi mo kaya, pero ikaw pa rin ang piloto ng buhay mo, ang magdadala sa sarili mo sa tamang direksyon.”
To those eyeing to become a pilot, he cited certain requirements.
“One of the requirements, kailangan you are a degree holder,” said Ronnie who finished a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Major in Science at Holy Angel University in Pampanga.
“Number two, you have to pass the physical, mental, and psychological exam. Napakahalaga n’yan kasi dapat physically, mentally, and psychologically capable ka.
“Number three, ‘yung time mo. Kailangan mo ng time and budget. Ang pagpa-pilot is very expensive. You really have to prepare.”
After passing his solo test, Ronnie is now preparing for a private license that requires him to complete 40 hours.
After that, he can apply for commercial license.
“I feel, like, ito ang calling ko. I am 100% fully myself kapag nagpapalipad ako.”
He will continue singing and acting. His collaboration song with Sarah Geronimo titled “Liwanag” was released recently. Ronnie will soon put out “Sa Paskong Darating,” a Christmas song.
